Thanks for putting up with the late post today! I just could not put off those Christmas cards one more day. Speaking of the cards, I’ll post our card and letter on Friday so that those of you not on our list can see it!
Last week I thought I was being all creative with dinner, only to find out several of my friends make variations of this and have various names for it. I figure if I didn’t know this was a dinner possibility, then maybe others wouldn’t think to make it either, so I’ll post it anyway!
Ingredients:
Crescent Rolls (I used 2 cans)
Chicken (already cooked – I used left overs from my roast chicken)
Herb and Garlic cheese spread
Roll out your crescent rolls and top with some chicken.
Spread some cheese on top (in hindsight, I wished I had done the cheese first and chicken second)
Top with the other can of crescent rolls and seal the little packets as best you can.
Bake at 375 for about 30 minutes or until the packets are nicely browned.
These were a big hit with the boys and I’ll definitely make them again! The combinations of what you could put inside are endless. Plus, it was a fun and new way to use up the left over chicken we had.
We do something like that 🙂 We take the chicken and mix it in a bowl with a stick of cream cheese room temp and about 1-2 tbl milk. then add in some garlic salt and put in the cresent rolls like that. they are really good!!! 🙂
Yes! When I was making them I thought “hmmmm… I bet cream cheese would be good in these”!
I have also made something similar with cream cheese (3 oz) and butter (2 tbs)instead of milk. We also add mushrooms. Then, add a spoonful and roll them up in a single crescent roll. We then dip in butter and roll in crushed croutons or bread crumbs and bake. We serve them with mashed potatoes with the gravy made from cream of chick soup diluted with just a 1/2 can of water. We also pour the gravy over the Chicken Logs. They are yummy and look like you did something fancy.
Wow! Those sound awesome, Nanette!
These sound delicious. I want to make some tonight just don’t have that spread. hmmm… what else could I put with cooked chicken,
Any cheese would work! Or, you could also probably used some cream of chicken soup with some spices added. You could also add some veggies (canned, frozen or fresh) to it.
Yum.
I haven’t done this before, so it is inspiration to me. Thanks.
