Trades of Hope giveaway!

It’s been ages since we last had a giveaway here, so I was super excited when a friend from college contacted me about hosting a giveaway here on the blog! Up for grabs? A beautiful scarf!

There is an abundance of home party options out there now – makeup, cook wear, jewelry, shakes, etc. Here’s one you may not be familiar with, but will absolutely love! Trades of Hope has an amazing and unique concept, in that by purchasing their products, you’re helping women and girls in other countries come out of poverty and/or bondage!

Trades of Hope was founded when two mother/daughter teams found that they could help promote the products of female artisans by using the home party model. These women were passionate about their faith and about helping empower women out of poverty, the sex trade, and other desperate circumstances. Trades of Hope “Compassion Entrepreneurs” sell products at home parties and earn extra income, but only after the artisans receive a fair wage for the products they created in countries around the world. Each product is under $50, is hand-crafted, and comes with a tag that indicates where it came from and some information about a specific artisan or group of artisans.

Here’s why my friend Krista loves Trades of Hope!

“I love Trades of Hope because the products support women around the world. My family is in place where it’s hard to give. Hard to give of our time, with two small children, hard to give of our finances, with only one primary income, and hard to give of our energy. . . again, the two small children. Trades of Hope offers me ways to give again. Most home parties are in the evenings when my children are already in bed, allowing me to give my time without taking it away from my children. It offers some extra income as consultants earn 20% commission on their sales, earning our family some extra money and earning money for the artisans. While I’m typically running low on energy by the end of the day, I am invigorated by the mission of this company and easily talk about it with friends, colleagues, and strangers.”

Fabulous concept, isn’t it?! Krista would love to have more women on her team, so if you’re interested in becoming a Compassion Entrepreneur, check out the details through Krista’s Trades of Hope site!  If you’re interested in just shopping from the comfort of home or hosting an online party, you can also do that through her site. There’s even a great special running this month!

Alright, let’s get to the fun part – the scarf (which comes from Nepal)! I’ve worn mine out several times, and always get compliments on it! People love the texture and the colors, and it’s been great “tied” multiple ways. I tried to get a picture of myself wearing it, but it was a major picture fail, and Nick declined my offer to model it for me, so you have to settle for this 😉

Entering is super easy – just use the Rafflecopter below! Make sure you actually do what it says (as in, actually leave a blog comment, don’t just check that you did, etc), because I do double check when the winner is drawn.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Winner will be randomly selected and announced next Friday, and will have 48 hours to claim their prize before an alternate winner will be selected! Huge thanks to Krista for sponsoring!

Disclaimer: All opinions expressed above, with the exception of Krista’s take on things, are entirely my own. While I was not paid for the review, I did receive a scarf to try out prior to offering the giveaway.
