There’s Going to Be a Wedding!

Last Saturday night my sister Laura called me to warn me she wasn’t sure if her normal Sunday afternoon visit was going to happen. I always like when she calls to give me a heads up, because once I had already blabbed to the boys that Aunt Laura would be by and then when she couldn’t come I paid dearly in the form of upset children.

Anyway, she wasn’t sure if she was coming because her boyfriend (of 3 years) had taken the day off of work and “had plans” for them, but wasn’t sharing what they were. When I hung up the phone, I looked at Nick and said “Laura’s getting engaged tomorrow.”

Sunday afternoon rolled around and, much to the delight of the boys, Laura AND Mason (her boyfriend) came over for a little bit. Still no ring.

Sunday at about 9pm my phone rang and I saw it was Laura. I knew it just had to be engagement news, but didn’t want to blurt out “are you engaged?!” for fear that a Legally Blonde type break-up had occurred instead (kinda like what Nick did to me when we were in college, but that’s a different story). I could instantly tell by the giddy tone in her voice though that she was indeed engaged! Hooray!!

That’s her bling and it’s bigger than mine! She’s in full wedding planning mode, as this is going to be a fairly short engagement. Looks like it’ll be a late May date, which will give this Matron of Honor 16 weeks following the birth of baby girl to get in shape! Oh, and of course the boys will all be in little matching suits and in the wedding.

I’m excited, the boys are excited (because I told them there would be a big party) and family and friends are excited. Congratulations Laura and Mason! Mason, I hope you’re ready to marry into this crazy family and become an uncle to 7 kids!

Yipee!! Hopefully it’s going to be in Maine? Your dad filled us in on the cute story when they were visiting in November (the trip he and Mason took out to the car in the rain!!) We were all expecting to hear something at Thanksgiving! So glad to hear that Laura is very happy – please give her a hug of congrats from all of us. Love you guys!ReplyCancel
