I was on a roll last week with on-time posting! Then, the weekend hit… Know what we did this weekend? Well, I had 3 photo sessions (was supposed to have four, but one had to be rescheduled due to rain) and then we tackled the dining area floors. Yep. Ourselves! Nick rented a big sander, and well that’s a whole other post for another time. Anyway, this morning, after Nick left for work, I put Lily down for a nap and set the boys up with the Wii and did one final round of light sanding and the final coat of sealer. In between turns on the Wii, the boys got a kick out of watching me mess around on the floor.
Then I spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon playing with the kiddos, making lunch, baking cookies and doing some serious multi-tasking by answering work e-mails and putting in a print order. Whew! You know, your typical mom morning.
I’m just full of excuses, aren’t I? 🙂
Anyway, I couldn’t give up my streak of weekday posting so thought I’d finish up the vacation posts by showing you how vacation started and ended!
You know, considering we were only going to be gone for 2 nights, we sure packed a lot of stuff!
Yep, even more stuff was packed around the seats. I joked to Nick how we could possibly have fit everything if we’d taken a 2 week trip East like originally planned. He said we’d of needed a U-Haul trailer. Ha!
Everyone was all smiles when we finally gave the all clear to get into the van (we’d had to get them out twice before for premature entry).
I am not even kidding when I say we were less than 10 minutes into our 3+ hour trip that the “Are We There Yet?” questions started, followed usually with an “I’m bored!”. Nick finally told the boys “If we were driving to church, we wouldn’t even be there yet!”
Then I broke out the $1 activity kits I had picked up that morning. Inside the kit were stickers, which Jackson clearly made good use of…
He had them stuck to his arms and legs too, which proved to be a delight to rip off that night. *sigh* Boys.
So you already know what kind of fun we had at Silver Dollar City, Fishing at the condo, etc, and if you don’t, you can click those links to read about it.
Friday afternoon, after almost 6 hours of fun at Silver Dollar City, we loaded back into the van and headed for home. We seriously weren’t even out of the parking lot before we looked back and saw all 4 kids were OUT.
They slept that way for about 40 minutes, until we stopped for dinner at Braum’s. We don’t have Braum’s in KC, but we wish we did. Yummy ice cream and cheap but good food! Seriously. Someone bring a Bruam’s to KC please!
Poor Lily. That ice cream was just full of things she’s not supposed to have yet – namely peanut butter and dairy!
The boys got a big kick out of sugar cones. They’d never had one before and loved it when I showed them how to suck the melting ice cream through the bottom of the cone!
Jackson opted to go the neater spoon-and-cup method.
The trip ended with us arriving home around 9pm, to a 90 degree house. YUCK! We seriously had a wonderful time in Branson though, and I look forward to going back someday!
Helpful hint from a mom of a sticker loving girl – Keep alcohol wipes handy and use them over the stickers to peel them off without the normal pain! Works great for bandaids too!!!
Love that tip, Laura! Thank you!
looks like a great trip even though the questions came early!! its hard for kiddos (and even me sometimes) to understand that!! I also love Braums and wish we had one closer! Although its kind of fun to have a got to place when you are going down south! (my biggest favorite is zaxbys but I dont think we will ever get those and you have to go real south for it!)
True! I think now whenever we head “south” we’ll plug Braum’s into the GPS and make sure we hit one 🙂 I’ve never heard of Zaxby’s and now I’m intrigued…
ah Helen – you are your father’s daughter! Sucking ice cream through the BOTTOM of the cone!!! Glad you guys had a great trip. We are still sorry that the trip east didn’t work – miss seeing you guys. love and hugs to everyone!
I’m guessing you hit a Bruam’s around Springfield. Next time you’re there, you should also hit Mexican Villa. I’ve seriously made the 3 hour drive just for some Villa (seeing family was a bonus).
I have been thinking of opening a Braum’s up here for years. Let’s do it!
