Random Thoughts

This morning my princess and I are getting some quiet time at home. Nick took the boys to school and is working before bringing them back home, I’m relaxed on the couch (pretty much for the first time since I got home from the hospital) and Lily is chilling in her bassinet, on top of her bili-blanket/pad/whatever you want to call it. See?

Lily’s bilirubin levels are slowly coming down. She was at 17 on Monday, 16.5 on Tuesday and 15.4 yesterday. Today we get to skip the whole heel prick/blood draw thing and just go back tomorrow. I can’t wait to get her off this bili-light thing. She’s much less portable with it, as she has to be on it all times except for diaper changes and feedings. It’s bumming us out to not get to carry her around! We are grateful though that her jaundice can be treated here at home instead of needing to go back to the hospital.

The last couple of afternoons the sun has been shining in our front window, so I’ve doubled the effort to get rid of her jaundice by stripping her down to her diaper and having her lay on her bili-light and get some sun!

Fun fact for you all… Nursing one baby is a whole lot less time consuming than nursing and pumping for three. Bet that shocks you all, huh?

The boys have always struggled with using “she” and “her”. Everyone is a “him”, “he”, or “that guy”. Everyone. Now that there’s another girl in the house though, we’re being given more opportunities to correct that! We’re making progress… this morning Jackson told Lily to “be a good boy” when he left for school. Chase told her to “be a good girl”. Tyler just waved.

Lily’s room is a work in progress. While I was in the hospital, Nick was home frantically painting the room and putting together the crib… while watching the boys. There are still quite a few decorating touches to be added. I’m guessing by the time she’s 6 months old it’ll be done. Ha!

Speaking of her room, Nick wants to make a sign for her door that says “Lily’s Pad”. Love it!

The day I got discharged from the hospital, Nick took the boys to a store to pick out a big brother gift for each of them. They’ve been begging for Pillow Pets since last fall, so we decided that would be the perfect gift for them. Jackson picked a dolphin, Chase a penguin and Tyler a monkey. They adore them and have been using them as their pillows all week!

Last night I told Chase I wished I had a pillow pet, because they look so soft. He said “No Mommy, you can’t have one. They’re for big brothers only.”

Time to feed Little Miss, and after that I think I’ll do something I don’t often get to do… sleep when the baby sleeps!
