Back before we knew if we were having a boy or a girl, an idea for a baby girl room popped into my head. Flowers! I love flowers and I love taking pictures of them. I have dozens of pictures of different types of flowers and it seems like a crime that they all just reside on my hard drive instead of on a wall somewhere.
The vision is this: I will print and frame various pictures of flowers I’ve taken. The print sizes will vary from 4×6 to 8×10 or maybe even a little bigger. I’ll use different color frames. Here are some of the pictures I have…
The big questions now are what colors to paint the walls and what to do for bedding and curtains. I’ve already decided my Thursday “break” will be spent at Target and Babies R Us looking at stuff!
Beautiful pictures! What a fun time you’ll have during break this week. 🙂
Paint a light pink with that last picture being an influence. I love that one. Have fun decorating. 🙂 I need to get on my own baby decorating!
I love day lilies and tulips… they are pretty much my favorite 🙂
beautiful pictures, Helen!! and such a great idea.
the pictures would be beautiful in black and white as well to keep them all the same and then you could pick whatever color you would like…
but if you do keep them in color, I would suggest a color that goes with the color of the flowers… a light yellow might be pretty…
Beautiful!! Can’t wait to see the finished nursery!!
Great idea! The pictures are beautiful. I agree with a light yellow, you don’t want something too bright or strong to take away from the beautiful flowers.
Cool idea Helen – what great pics! The colors are gorgeous. Won’t you have fun looking at bedding and choosing paint!!
What a great idea, Helen! I’d say you’re on the right track, with all the colors in the pictures I think you should decide on bedding first and then pick a color that coordinates with both the pictures and bedding! Good luck!
I like someone elses idea of doing pics in black and white – EXCEPT for the one picture you like best that really pops (I like the last one too) and do that in color. Then you could make that the largest – maybe even do a Gallery wrap. Mpix.com often has their gallery wraps on sale for quite a discount. It would be your focal point and what you base the wall paint color and bedding color around. I know Lands End often has solid color baby bedding in case you think a flower print would be too much with the other flowers. I also like the idea of a doing a homemade flower mobile similar to this http://www.pbteen.com/products/small-flower-mobile/?catalogId=77&bnrid=3780801&cm_ven=Shopping&cm_cat=Google%20Base&cm_pla=Feed&cm_ite=Google%20Base.
Next year the girls are getting a big girl room makeover once they are ready for twin beds and I might do a flower theme too…thinking daisy’s. Have fun with this!
Ooh! The mobile is cute! Thanks for that link, Sammie.
Until it was mentioned here, I honestly hadn’t thought of doing black and white for the flowers! It just seemed like a crime to take those beautiful colors away, but you all have inspired me now to play around in Photoshop and see what it looks like!
The flowers look beautiful. I think it is a great idea. The mobile is really pretty. You could make one too. They says babies pay more attention to blk/wht because of the color contrast. If you do the blk/wht pics, a matching blk/wht mobile would be very pretty. I love the idea of a single color pic. Have fun with all the ideas, shopping and decorating.
The pictures are beautiful. I love the framed displays that use a large frame with a small photo in the middle or offset. I saw a cast or touch of yellow in several of the pictures. Hmmm…could that or a light green be the wall color. You really don’t need any help because you have obvious artistic talent.
It will be awesome whatever you decide! I love the flowers idea! I have lots of pics of flowers that I need to frame and put up as well. I have just been trying to figure out where to put them. 🙂 Could you do black and white backgrounds with just the flowers in color? I’m not a photoshop girl at all so not sure what all you can accomplish with that.
