More Photo Stuff

I know I’ve been blogging about photography stuff quite a bit lately, so please let me know if you’re all bored with it! I’m hoping though that some of you are finding it motivating and are trying to better your photo taking (and editing) skills.

Today, over at I Heart Faces, there’s a nifty Photoshop (Elements or regular PS) tutorial about tinted black and white effects. Considering my black and white abilities are limited to a couple of free “actions” I have (courtesy of The Pioneer Woman), I was intrigued. Plus, they asked us to try it out and then share our blog links!

Here’s my SOOC (straight out of the camera) shot of Jackson…

Ok, now here’s what I normally would have done to make it black and white… just double clicked on the “action” in my Photoshop Elements files and been done with it. It would have looked like this…

It’s alright, but I don’t love it. Plus, there’s not a whole lot tweaking I can do with it (I did do a tiny bit because Jackson’s face was totally blown out originally).

Here’s what I did myself, following the tutorial from IHF…

I like the browner tones of this one so much more! Seems not as harsh. The tinting combos are limitless and I can see myself having lots of fun playing with this feature. Check out the tutorial yourself HERE and try it out!
