Lily at 9 Months

Miss Lily had her 9 month well-check today, and hit the 9 month mark last week. For some reason, she seems older to me in the last week or so. I know, I know… she is older!

She’s definitely not losing her chub! Look at those arms! She gets her cheeks, arms and thighs squeezed a lot… both by me and by random strangers. Newscasters seem especially drawn to the chub. First there was one of the newscasters at the station when Lily was on the morning news a couple of weeks ago and then there was a woman from another news station who was doing a piece at the zoo this week and couldn’t resist squeezing Lily’s leg.

Stats:

Weight: 25 lbs 14oz – off the percentile charts. Ha!

Height: 29 1/2 inches – 95th percentile

Baby Girl, please don’t eat the leaves!

New Skills:

She’s adding some actual crawling into the mix now, instead of sticking to the straight-up army crawl. And you know what I’ve seen several times in the last few days? Pulling up. Yikes! She’s not pulling all the way up to her feet, but she can get to her knees pretty easily and I think the rest of it will follow pretty quickly.

Teeth:

Two! Both popped through a little over a week ago. Can you seem ’em in this picture? They’re on the bottom gum.

She loves pretty much all foods right now (big shocker considering her size!) and especially loves anything she can feed herself. She gets a huge kick out of drinking water from her sippy cup and then opening her mouth to let the water pour out. Yep, she’s pretty much soaking wet after each meal.

She also loves when her brothers act silly to try to make her laugh! The feeling seems to be mutual too, because the boys are constantly trying to make her laugh.

Brittany - Wow. She is getting big and so adorable. If you remember Paisley is a month older than her so I like it when you post her stats. Do you have any advice on the sippy cup. We have spent tons of money on tons of cups and she will not drink out of any of them. now she doesnt even attempt it she just pushes them away. Did you do anything special or did she just pick up on it?ReplyCancel

Helen - Brittany, I just picked a cup at Target and started having her “practice” with it around the time we started solids (6 months). We did the same thing with the boys and the only thing I did differently this time was to pick a cup that didn’t have a valve system. The boys had a hard time early on with the valves and figuring out how to suck hard enough. Maybe try a straw cup with Paisley? She’s old enough that she might get it!ReplyCancel

Aunt Sue - You’ve got a precious girl there Helen!! Sounds like she’s going to give her 3 year old cousin Jessica a challenge in the weight department! Tell her that Great Auntie Sue is itchin’ to give her chubby arms and legs a squeeze! By the time we meet her, that beautiful baby “roundness” will be all gone…… 🙁ReplyCancel
