Just Move A Little

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about photography lately, and while I’m no pro and I’m only self-taught I thought I’d share a little something with you. This tip applies whether you have a point and shoot or a DSLR.

First, pay attention to the pictures you’re taking as you’re taking them. Look at the screen once in a while to make sure they’re framed the way you want and the sharpness and lighting are what you want! Nothing bums me out more than not paying attention and not realizing I don’t like the shots until hours later when I’m loading them onto my computer.

Second, if something looks kind of “off” in the coloring or lighting, try just moving yourself a bit.

For example, here’s a picture I took a couple of weeks ago of Laura and the boys. Kinda blueish and dark. Not a fan.

Look what a simple 3 steps to the left can do though! Same exact settings on the camera (manual mode, so I set all the settings myself), yet very different results!

Don’t stand still, like a statue, when taking pictures – move around to find the best angle and lighting!

The winner of the Yoplait Kids giveaway was Rebecca! Congrats Rebecca – look for an e-mail from me to claim your prize pack!
