My children are rough on books. Very rough. Exhibit A would be a book that has been well “loved” for the last two years or so…

I foolishly assumed that by 2.5, my children would be gentle enough to at least not destroy books made out of cardboard! Apparently I assumed incorrectly. Darn! I can remember one book they received around the time they turned 1 and it said on the back that it was guaranteed to hold up to babies and toddlers and if it didn’t the company would replace it. I was surprised when only a few weeks later the boys managed to rip a page and several flaps! I was even more surprised though when I called said company looking for a replacement and they told me they no longer had that book, but would replace it with a different one if I would just pay to ship my torn book to them. Uhhhh… no thanks.
This spring I heard about a nifty company that is not only based in Kansas City but was also started by another triplet mom! The product? Indestructibles. They make picture books for babies and toddlers that are just that – indestructible! Sweet! We’ve now had three of their books kicking around the house (literally) for a few months and you know what? Not one page is torn! Sure, the pages in some are bent, but they can be bent back easily enough…

Impressive, huh? While my boys are over the whole let’s-put-everything-in-our-mouths stage, according to the Indestructibles website, their books are waterproof and you can even wash them! I’m hooked! Oh, and it should be mentioned that while I was taking these pictures, Jackson wandered in and stood on a book. Such a helper!

My girlies destroy books in about 2 days after seeing them for the first time! How awesome that I wouldn’t have to “hide” them, so they don’t get ruined.
I like the Mary had a Little Lamb book for my Meri. I also like the Humpty Dumpty book for Madi. (She has been called that before because of her tendancy to topple backwards on her head – on purpose! Silly kid!)

I’m a fan of you and Indestructibles on Facebook =) I TOO would love to get some books that won’t be destroyed at our home!! We have BGG triplets and the titles I would choose, besides all of them, would be Jungle Rumble, Plip Plop Pond, and Creep Crawl, but I gotta say I do like all of them…

Oh my, I wish I had known about these before!! I need to win them for the two tornadoes, soon to be 3!! We thought the same thing, that books would be okay but so many have been destroyed!!

Our girls are so rough on books! It’s almost like fingernails on a chalkboard for me to see them bend a page the wrong way, but I want them to have books available to play with, so I just grit my teeth and try to correct them without fussing too much. These look like great books!
