14 Minutes

There are four little words that Nick and I dread hearing when out in public. Absolutely dread it. Hearing those words guarantees a rather large chunk of time in a stuffy, sometimes dirty and sometimes smelly location. The words?

“I have to poop.”

*sigh*

Last night, while out to dinner, all three boys announced they needed to go to the bathroom. “Ok, no biggie. At least no one said they had to poop.” So I herded 3/4’s of my brood into the bathroom. All three went and I was thinking about how nice it was for them to hurry so that I could get back to my dinner when it happened…

“I have to poop.”

ARGH!

I texted Nick and told him I had two poopers and needed him to come get #3. When he met me at the door he said, with an evil grin, “see you in 20 minutes”.

After 10 minutes Ty announced he was done and “I can hold the rest until I get home, Mommy.”

I’m sorry, what?!

Know what made it better? The fact that in the 10 minutes he did NOTHING. And yes, he did finish (start?) the job after he got home. He seems to have pooping in public places issues.

Chase made me hang out in the bathroom for 14 minutes from the time I texted Nick to the time Chase announced he was finally done. 14 minutes actually isn’t too bad. I’ve crouched in dirtier, smellier bathrooms for much longer (usually with Ty).

Seriously though, boys… can we hurry the process along in the future? I am however counting my blessings that this escapade did not need to happen in a skeevy porta-potty.  I’ve been there, done that and would be just has happy never doing it again.

Ahh….yes…I too dread those words…lol. Especially during spring and fall (when the older boys are playing sports) because the ONLY thing around is a port-a-potty, and Daniel LOVES to use them. Such a boy….so GROSS! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • We keep a travel potty in our van so when we hear those words, I just have to sit in the van and wait – instead of holding a tiny child over a toilet. YUCK!ReplyCancel

  • Ha ha! Too funny, but not. Dustyn hasn’t pooped in public yet. He always holds it and never ask to go in public. Not looking forward to that.ReplyCancel

sounds to me like you need to have Daddy bring the boys to the bathroom! Although listen to me talk, Ryan still prefers me to take him- even when his daddy is right threre!ReplyCancel

    • Ha! Oh believe me, Nick has had his fair share of long bathroom sessions in public too. He’s even had double duty where we’ve had back to back poopers!ReplyCancel

Mason has done that to me before… But at least I don’t have to wait in the restroom with him. We’ll be our way out the door and he’ll all of a sudden say he has to go and I won’t see him again for a very long time. I wonder if some boys just like to take their time and push the hold button on life for the rest of us. 🙂ReplyCancel

    • Oh my goodness, Laura! I’m dying with laughter that you posted this about your HUSBAND! Bahahahaha!ReplyCancel
